Miscues trouble Women’s Volleyball in loss to Mount Aloysius

The Celtics (6-12, 1-1 AMCC) fell to the Mounties (15-6, 3-0 AMCC), 25-15, 26-24 and 25-17.
Rebecca Hess (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) tallied a game-high 20 digs and led the Celtics with nine kills on the night. Jorja Sedlar (Brentwood, Pa./PA Leadership Charter School) recorded four of Carlow's 11 blocks in the effort.
Mount Aloysius quickly added five points to the board to start the first set. The Celtics battled back to trail by one, but a 6-1 run gave the Mounties a 15-9 advantage enroute to a 25-15 win.
Mount Aloysius started with a 5-2 lead in the second set before an error set off a 9-1 run for the Celtics to put them ahead, 11-6. A 6-0 run for the Mounties saw them ahead 12-11 before a kill from Jurisa Shirky (Canterbury, UK/The Mount Academy) tied the game at 12-all.
The momentum carried both teams to tie the score and trade leads until the very end of the set. At set point, a kill from Hess tied the game at 24-all, but a Mounties kill and a Carlow error saw the set fall in favor of Mount Aloysius, 26-24.
The teams traded leads throughout the third set, with the Celtics trailing by one several times late in the game. Mount Aloysius ended the set with an 8-1 run to win, 25-17.
Mackenzie Barr led the Mounties with a game-high 14 kills, while Molly Richards contributed a double-double 13 kills and 11 digs.
The Celtics host Pitt Bradford for a 1 p.m. AMCC match Oct. 18. Carlow will celebrate Senior Day prior to the start of the match.
