Men’s Volleyball defeated in road match at Saint Vincent

The Bearcats (3-2) hit .243 with 14 service aces on the night.
Gavin McLain (Acworth, Ga./North Paulding HS), Jaden Michalski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy) and Caio Matos Machado (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Bishop Guilfoyle HS) all hit four kills apiece. McLain and Angelo Fernandez (Williamsport, Pa./St. John Neumann Regional Academy) each tallied five digs, and Michalski added two service aces.
Saint Vincent held Carlow to one kill enroute to a decisive 25-6 victory in the first set.
The Bearcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second set before a kill from McLain set off a 5-0 run for Carlow that saw the Celtics trailing by one.
Carlow kept it close until a 7-1 run put the Bearcats up, 22-12. The Celtics battled on, putting together a late 5-1 run to trail, 23-17. Saint Vincent earned the 25-17 victory with back-to-back kills to end the set.
Carlow tied the score 8-all early in the third set until the Bearcats strung together a 7-1 run to lead, 18-11. Saint Vincent stayed ahead to win the third set and the match, 25-17.
Braedan Artman led the Bearcats with a game-high seven kills. Jack Ryan recorded a game-high seven digs, and Owen Ward tallied three service aces.
The Celtics host Randolph for a 7 p.m. match tomorrow at St. Joesph Athletic & Fitness Center.
