Women’s Volleyball falls to Pitt Bradford on Senior Day

The Panthers (16-7, 2-1 AMCC) held Carlow (6-13, 1-2 AMCC) to just 14 kills in the match.
Rebecca Hess (New Alexandria, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) led the Celtics with nine digs and six kills, and Paige Keller (Liberty Borough, Pa./South Allegheny HS) tallied a game-high seven blocks in the effort.
Carlow had Pitt Bradford against the ropes in the first set, jumping out to a 15-10 advantage. Behind 20-13, the Panthers went on an 8-2 run to trail by one. A service error following a Carlow time out landed the Celtics another point.
It looked as though Carlow would win the first set ahead 24-22, but Pitt Bradford landed three kills in a row to take it to a win-by-two situation, and a Carlow error handed the Panthers a 26-24 victory.
The teams traded leads to start the second set before Pitt Bradford went ahead 15-8. The Celtics scored four points in quick succession, but the Panthers won the second set, 25-15.
Once again, the teams kept it close to begin the third set before Pitt Bradford pulled away to lead, 16-10. Two Panthers errors and a kill from Hess saw the Celtics trailing by four, but Pitt Bradford kept Carlow at bay to win, 25-18.
Lillian Bentley recorded a game-high 16 kills, while Danielle Sasuga added a game-high 13 digs.
The Celtics travel to Penn State Altoona for a 7 p.m. AMCC match Oct. 21.
