ALTOONA, Pa. --- Carlow University women's basketball lost a 79-51 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference contest to Penn State Altoona on the road Wednesday.
Emari Stinnette (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown HS) led the Celtics with 11 points, and Lexi Ewig (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey HS) added nine points and four steals in the effort.
A slow first quarter set Carlow (1-13, 1-5 AMCC) off on the wrong foot, and the Lions took advantage of it, outscoring the Celtics 19-11 in the second quarter to take a 19 point lead into halftime.
Carlow fared better in the second half, with Altoona (9-5, 4-1 AMCC) outpacing the Celtics 42-33 for the win.
Carlow shot 86.7 percent (13 for 15) from the foul line on the night. Altoona outrebounded the Celtics 51-34 and scored 31 points off 23 Carlow turnovers.
Lanie Wilt led the Lions with a game-high 20 points. Avana Sayles recorded a double-double 14 points and 11 rebounds, and two other players recorded double figures in the win.
The Celtics host Pitt Bradford for a 2 p.m. AMCC game Jan. 17.
