Men’s Volleyball competes against Hilbert in final AMCC road game of the season

The Celtics fell to the Hawks (4-18, 2-7 AMCC), 3-0, at the Brad Hafner Recreation Center.
Gavin McLain (Acworth, Ga./North Paulding HS) led Carlow with his second double-digit kill game of the season with 10. David Valentino (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional HS) recorded 11 digs, and Ryan Callahan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) added 11 assists in the effort.
The Celtics led for the beginning of the first set, ahead 14-12 midway through. A kill and back-to-back service aces put Hilbert ahead, 15-14, but a subsequent service error tied the score at 15-all.
A 6-1 run gave the Hawks a 21-16 advantage, and although Carlow brought it back to trail by three several times, Hilbert won the first set, 25-21.
The Hawks gained a 14-6 lead in the second set before Carlow strung together a 6-1 run to trail, 15-12. For every point the Celtics scored, Hilbert scored two and won the second set, 25-19.
The Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third set, but Carlow battled back to trail by two. Hilbert outscored Carlow 8-3 to go up, 21-14, and defeated the Celtics in the third set, 25-18.
Mehkai Francis led the Hawks with a game-high 15 kills, Michael Pozzuto added a game-high 20 digs.
The Celtics host Penn State Altoona for the final match of the season April 1 at 7 p.m.
