Men’s Volleyball drops AMCC match to Mount Aloysius

The Mounties (3-19, 3-4 AMCC) hit .375 on the night with 15 service aces.
Gavin McLain (Acworth, Ga./North Paulding HS) produced another seven-kill performance, while Ryan Callahan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) added six digs and five assists. Luke Campana (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) recorded Carlow's two service aces on the night.
Errors plagued the Celtics in the first set, although Carlow held on to trail by two early on. Ahead, 8-6, the Mounties scored 10 unanswered points to gain a significant 18-6 advantage. Mount Aloysius outscored Carlow 7-4 to end the first set with a 25-10 win.
The Mounties jumped out to a 12-6 lead in the second set before a kill from Caio Matos Machado (São Paulo, Brazil/Bishop Guilfoyle HS) set up a 7-3 run to see the Celtics trailing by two. Mount Aloysius scored five points in a row, followed by Carlow's three, with the Celtics down, 20-16. The Mounties outscored Carlow 5-1 to end the second set, 25-17.
Mount Aloysius started strong in the third set and went on a 10-2 run midway through to take a 17-6 lead. Carlow continued to battle, but the Mounties ended the set and the match with a 25-12 victory.
Zach Rosenwald led Mount Aloysius with a game-high 12 kills, and Brady Diegelman tallied eight of the Mounties' aces. Bryson Brooks added a game-high seven digs.
The Celtics travel to Hilbert College for a 1 p.m. AMCC match March 28.
