Errors costly in Men’s Volleyball loss to Mount Aloysius

Luke Campana (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) led the Celtics with eight kills, and Angelo Fernandez (Williamsport, Pa./St. John Neumann Regional Academy) added six digs. Rohan Bhattarai (Baldwin, Pa./Baldwin HS) tallied 16 assists in the effort.
Carlow kept it close through the first two sets.
The Mounties scored four points right away, and the Celtics began to chip away at their advantage, tying the game at 7-all with a Mount Aloysius service error and a subsequent ace from Jaden Michalski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy).
The Mounties regained a marginal lead before a kill from Bhattarai set off a 6-1 run for the Celtics to put them ahead, 15-12.
An error handed the ball back to Mount Aloysius, trailing 16-14, and the team strung together a 5-1 run of their own to lead, 19-17.
A kill from Ryan Callahan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) and a Mounties error tied the score at 19-19, but Mount Aloysius scored four unanswered points to go up, 23-19.
Another kill from Campana and an error saw the Celtics trailing 24-22, but a hitting error ended the game in favor of the Mounties, 25-22.
Carlow gained a marginal lead early in the second set. Mount Aloysius tied the game three separate times until a service error set off a 5-0 run for the Celtics, giving them a 13-8 lead and prompting a Mounties time out.
Out of the time out, Mount Aloysius put four points on the board to trail by one; still the Celtics stayed ahead. A 7-0 run gave the Mounties a 21-16 advantage, and later two errors and a service ace from Callahan saw Carlow down, 22-20.
A Celtics service error and back-to-back kills went in favor of Mount Aloysius for the 25-20 victory.
After tying the score 4-4, the Celtics trailed the remainder of the third set.
The Mounties put together their largest run of the game, 10-2, gaining a 19-9 lead enroute to a 25-14 third set win.
Brady Diegelman led the Mounties with a game-high 10 kills and nine digs. Jason Freed recorded five of the team's 10 blocks on the night.
The Celtics travel to neighboring Chatham for a 7 p.m. match tomorrow.
