Men’s Volleyball begins New York trip with stop at Nazareth

Gavin McLain (Acworth, Ga./North Paulding HS) led Carlow with four kills and Rohan Bhattarai (Baldwin, Pa./Baldwin HS) contributed six assists and four digs in the effort.
The Celtics started strong in the first set before a 10-3 run put Nazareth ahead, 11-5. The Golden Flyers maintained a lead throughout the set, winning 25-15.
Nazareth jumped out to a 10-3 advantage in the second set and went on a 10-2 run to end the set with a 25-10 victory.
An early 9-1 run for the Golden Flyers gave them another 10-3 lead in the third set. Two Nazareth errors in a row saw the Celtics trailing by five before the Golden Flyers strung together a 9-2 run to lead, 19-7. Nazareth scored six unanswered points to end the third set and win the match, 25-8.
The Golden Flyers (5-2) hit .542 and tallied 17 service aces on the night.
Sean Frawley and Austin Drews led Nazareth with seven kills and five service aces each. AJ Burda added four digs.
The Celtics conclude their New York trip with an 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. tri-match at St. John Fisher tomorrow.
