Women’s Volleyball pulls off 3-1 win over visiting Penn State Fayette

The Celtics (8-10) hit .367 to dominate the first set, 25-12, but the Lions (10-7) got their feet under them and made Carlow work for the next three.
Fayette started off with a lead and went on a 6-0 run to gain a 17-8 advantage over the Celtics in the second set. Carlow attempted a comeback toward the end of the set, scoring four unanswered points to cut the Lions' lead to 24-21, but a Carlow attack error handed Fayette the second set win.
The Lions led, 8-3, to start the third set, but a kill from sophomore Jorja Sedlar set off a 6-0 run that gave Carlow a 9-8 lead.
Both teams tied the score several times throughout the set, but two kills and two Fayette errors afforded Carlow the 25-22 win.
The fourth set was almost a repeat of the third, with Fayette taking the lead early. Carlow rallied to regain control and maintained a marginal advantage throughout the remainder of the set en route to a 25-22 win.
Rebecca Hess led the Celtics with a double-double 17 kills and 17 digs, while Javonna Perkins and Megan Cooper added 12 and 10 kills respectively. Claire Yezovich tallied 20 digs and three of Carlow's nine service aces in the match, and Meghan Alexander had a career- and season-high 51 assists.
Adela Blough led the Lions with a double-double 17 kills and 17 digs. Abigail Bickerton added four of Fayette's seven blocks on the night.
The Celtics host Wells (N.Y.) College for a 3 p.m. AMCC match Oct. 14.
