Women’s Volleyball swept in nonconference match against Chatham

Rebecca Hess led the Celtics with eight kills on the night, while Kelsey Sufak tallied both of Carlow's aces. Gabby Serrao added 17 digs in the effort.
Tied 3-3 in the first set, the Cougars went on a 5-0 run to gain the lead.
With a two-point margin, Chatham went on an 11-0 run that included five aces to lead, 19-6, and won the first set, 25-11.
The Celtics kept it closer in the second set, tying the game up several times before a 6-1 Chatham run gave the Cougars a 24-20 advantage. Back-to-back kills by Javonna Perkins brought Carlow closer, but the Cougars settled the set with a kill of their own.
Chatham went up 5-1 to lead the third set, but the Celtics kept pace, once again tying the score several times and gaining a marginal lead or staying within a few points of the Cougars.
Chatham got ahead, 18-12, and the Celtics could not recover from the deficit to end the third set with a 25-15 loss.
Chatham recorded nine aces and 10 blocks, while two different players tallied seven kills apiece.
Carlow hosts Penn State Greater Allegheny for its first home match of the season Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
