Slow third quarter stifles Women’s Basketball at Mount Aloysius

The Mounties (10-14, 8-7 AMCC) shot 50 percent (32 for 64) from the field and 54.5 percent (12 for 22) from three on the night.
Emari Stinnette (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown HS) led the Celtics with a game-high 16 points and four assists. Audry Clingenpeel (Coolville, Ohio/Federal Hocking HS) added 12 points off the bench, and Lexi Ewig (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey HS) contributed 11 in the effort.
The teams traded marginal leads to begin the game, and back-to-back treys from Liberty Picarelli (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area HS) and Clingenpeel put Carlow up, 13-8.
The Mounties went on an 11-2 run to end the quarter ahead, 19-15.
A three pointer from Stinnette early in the second saw Carlow (5-18, 5-10 AMCC) trailing by two before Mount Aloysius created some distance. The Mounties led by 13 heading into halftime.
Mount Aloysius held Carlow to just six points and scored 29 to lead by 36 at the end of the third quarter.
The Mounties outscored Carlow 14-13 in the fourth to secure the win.
Mount Aloysius outrebounded the Celtics 41-35 and outscored Carlow 34-12 in the paint and 42-18 off the bench.
Annalyn Isaacs went 3 for 3 from beyond the arc to lead the Mounties with 13 points. Three other players tallied double figures in the win.
The Celtics host Hilbert College for a 2 p.m. AMCC game Feb. 21. Prior to tip-off, Carlow will celebrate Senior Day.
