Women’s Basketball staves off comeback in win over Pitt Greensburg

It was another narrow win for the Celtics (5-17, 5-9 AMCC), who claimed a 55-53 victory over Pitt Greensburg (1-22, 1-13 AMCC) Feb. 2.
The Bobcats shot marginally better from the field, but the Celtics shot better from the foul line at 88.9 percent (16 for 18).
Emari Stinnette (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown HS) led the Celtics with 16 points. Lexi Ewig (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey HS) added 14 points and two steals, and Josie Horne (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central HS) pulled down 10 boards and picked up two steals.
Both teams tied the score several times in the first quarter. After the Bobcats tied the game at 8-all, the Celtics held Pitt Greensburg scoreless for the remaining four minutes of the quarter to lead, 13-8.
Carlow maintained an advantage throughout the second quarter, and a trey from Gia Rosensteel (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem HS) put the Celtics up by 10. The Celtics led by eight heading into halftime.
Carlow regained and maintained a double-figure lead through the third quarter and was ahead by 10 heading into the fourth.
Trailing by seven with under two minutes remaining in regulation, the Bobcats were forced to foul to regain possession. The Celtics sank seven of their eight foul shots to end the game.
Carlow outrebounded Pitt Greensburg 47-44 and scored 16 points off 17 Bobcats turnovers.
Pitt Greensburg outscored the Celtics 26-18 in the paint, while Carlow outscored the Bobcats 11-0 off the bench.
Jocelyn Bielak led the Bobcats with a game-high 28 points and four steals. Addison Musto added 11 points, and Abby Henise contributed 15 rebounds in the effort.
The Celtics travel to Mount Aloysius for a 7 p.m. AMCC game Feb. 18.
