Slow night for Women’s Basketball against Penn State Altoona

Turnovers proved to be the downfall of the Celtics (3-17, 3-9 AMCC), with the Lions (14-6, 9-2 AMCC) scoring 40 points off 30 Carlow miscues.
Audry Clingenpeel (Coolville, Ohio/Federal Hocking HS) led the Celtics with 13 points off the bench. Gia Rosensteel (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem HS) added nine boards, and Lexi Ewig (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey HS) contributed four assists in the effort. Emari Stinnette exited the game early with an undisclosed injury, setting Carlow back a starting player.
Penn State Altoona held Carlow scoreless for over six minutes to gain a 26-5 lead in the first quarter.
The Lions applied pressure and pushed their advantage to 29 heading into halftime.
Penn State Altoona outscored Carlow 34-21 in the second half to secure the lopsided victory.
The Lions outrebounded the Celtics, 55-50.
Avana Sayles led Penn State Altoona with a game-high, double-double 21 points and 13 rebounds. Two other players added double figures in the win.
The Celtics travel to Pitt Bradford for a 2 p.m. AMCC game Feb. 7.
