League-leading La Roche bests Women’s Basketball

The RedHawks (10-9, 10-0 AMCC) remain unbeaten in conference action with the win over the Celtics (2-15, 2-7 AMCC).
Lexi Ewig (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey HS) led the Celtics with 16 points. Josie Horne (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central HS) added 11 points, and Audry Clingenpeel (Coolville, Ohio/Federal Hocking HS) contributed 10 points off the bench. Emari Stinnette (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown HS) pulled down nine boards in the effort.
Carlow kept it close through the first quarter, trailing the RedHawks by six heading into the second. An 8-0 run for La Roche in the second quarter put them ahead 34-16, and the RedHawks outscored the Celtics 15-5 the remainder of the quarter to take a 26-point advantage into halftime.
La Roche held Carlow to just seven points in the third quarter, and although the Celtics outscored the RedHawks 21-20 in the fourth, it was too little, too late.
La Roche outrebounded the Celtics 49-42 and scored 27 points off 24 Carlow turnovers.
Catherine Kelly led La Roche with a game-high 25 points. Two other players recorded double-doubles, while J'La Kizart pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds and dished out a game-high seven assists.
The Celtics host Alfred State College for a 3:30 p.m. game at Jan. 31.
