Women’s Basketball returns from break to face Alfred State

The Pioneers (7-6, 2-2 AMCC) defeated the Celtics, 85-42.
Audry Clingenpeel (Coolville, Ohio/Federal Hocking HS) sank three treys to lead Carlow with nine points, and Josie Horne (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central HS) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds. Lexi Ewig (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey HS) dished out four assists in the effort.
Alfred State jumped out to an early lead and held the Celtics (1-12, 1-4 AMCC) to single digit points in the second and third quarters.
Carlow outrebounded the Pioneers, 47-38, but Alfred State shot 46.9 percent (30 for 64) from the field with 12 three-pointers on the night.
The Pioneers scored 33 points off 27 Carlow turnovers and outscored the Celtics 32-6 off the bench.
Taylor Benjamin scored a game-high 15 points, and four other players recorded double figures in the win for Alfred State.
The Celtics host Pitt Greensburg for a 2 p.m. AMCC game at Donahue Pavilion Saturday.
