Shorthanded Women’s Basketball falls to Penn State Behrend

The Celtics (0-9, 0-2 AMCC) fell to the Lions, 94-38. Carlow was notably without several players due to injury or illness. Behrend held Carlow to single digit points in every quarter but the third when the Celtics outscored the Lions, 17-15.
Audry Clingenpeel (Coolville, Ohio/Federal Hocking HS) led the Celtics with 11 points and three steals. Josie Horne (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central HS) pulled down six rebounds, while Gia Rosensteel (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem HS) dished out three assists and picked up two steals.
The Lions (4-4, 1-1 AMCC) jumped out to an 11-1 lead and scored the most points of the game in the first quarter, 33-5.
Behrend took a 37-point lead into halftime, and although Carlow outscored the Lions 17-15 in the third quarter, Behrend ran away with the game in the fourth.
The Lions shot 53.3 percent (40 for 75) from the field and outrebounded Carlow, 57-26.
Alaina Fabin led Behrend with a game-high 23 points, while Emma Marsteller added a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Two other players recorded double figures in the win.
The Celtics travel to La Roche University for a 7 p.m. game Dec. 10.
