The Celtics (0-8, 0-1 AMCC) kept it close to start the game but had trouble landing shots throughout the night. The Mounties (2-4, 1-0 AMCC) shot 52.2 percent (35 for 67) from the field to Carlow's 26.9 percent (21 for 78).
Emari Stinnette (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown HS) and Lexi Ewig (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey HS) led the Celtics with 11 points apiece, and Alexis Toth (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette HS) contributed 10 points. Stinnette dished out four assists and Gia Rosensteel (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem HS) picked up three steals in the effort.
Both teams struggled to find a groove through the beginning of the first quarter, with the Celtics trailing 9-6 at the halfway point. A trey from Annalyn Issacs set off a 14-6 run to give Mount Aloysius a 14-point lead heading into the second quarter.
The Mounties held Carlow scoreless for almost five minutes, amassing a 23-point advantage before Toth landed a layup, ending the Celtics' scoring drought.
A three-pointer from Audry Clingenpeel (Coolville, Ohio/Federal Hocking HS) saw Carlow down 20, but Mount Aloysius outscored Carlow 12-9 to take a 49-26 lead into halftime.
Mount Aloysius scored the same number of points in the second half (49) and held Carlow to 28 points to secure the win.
The Mounties outrebounded Carlow 54-41 and outscored the Celtics 32-14 off the bench.
Molly Kosmack led the Mounties with a double-double 18 points and 17 rebounds. Mackenzie Barr also added a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards, and three other players recorded double-digit points in the win.
The Celtics host Penn State Behrend for a 6 p.m. game Saturday, Dec. 6 at Donahue Pavilion.
