PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's basketball took a quick trip to neighboring Carnegie Mellon University for an afternoon game Tuesday.
The Celtics shot just 17.9 percent (10 for 56) from the floor on the night and lost 94-24 to the Tartans (3-2).
Alexis Toth (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette HS) led the Celtics with 11 points, while Josie Horne (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central H) and Gia Rosensteel (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem HS) contributed seven rebounds apiece.
Carnegie Mellon held Carlow to single digits in every quarter except the third and scored 43 points off 32 Celtics turnovers on the day. The Tartans outrebounded Carlow 45-35 and shot 58.6 percent (41 for 70) from the field.
Nicole Timko and Anya Peper led Carnegie Mellon with 11 points each, and Aleena Dinker added six steals and six assists.
The Celtics host Mount Aloysius College to open Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
