PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's basketball faced Chatham University in its home opener at Donahue Pavilion Tuesday night.
The Celtics fell to the Cougars, 92-28, with Carlow missing several players due to illness or injury.
The teams were almost evenly matched in rebounding, with Chatham holding a 48-42 advantage. The Cougars held Carlow to single digit points in all but the third quarter.
Courtney Martin (Bemus Point, New York/Maple Grove HS/Jamestown CC) led Carlow with 12 points, nine rebounds and two seals, while Emari Stinnette (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown HS) added six points, three assists, two steals and two blocks.
Chatham scored 46 points off 37 Carlow turnovers and outscored the Celtics 48-4 off their deep bench.
Maria Barela led the Cougars with a game-high 23 points. Erin Dixon added 10 points off the bench, and Emily Venick contributed four assists and four steals.
Carlow returns to action Nov. 15 with a 1 p.m. game at Franciscan University.
