Softball shut out in AMCC home stand against Mount Aloysius

The Celtics (4-28) fell to 1-9 in conference action while the Mounties (10-18) improved to 6-6.
Game 1: L, 9-0 (5 inn.)
Jessica Koptcho pitched a truncated perfect game with six strikeouts in the run rule victory to start the evening. The Mounties pounded 11 hits and took advantage of seven costly Carlow errors to secure the win.
Tatum Wiggs (Boron, Calif./Boron HS) suffered the loss after allowing seven earned runs with two walks and three strikeouts in the effort.
Sarah Henninger went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBI, and Ava Doyle hit 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base to lead Mount Aloysius at the plate.
Game 2: L, 7-0
Brenna Watts tossed a three-hitter with one walk and three strikeouts to lead the Mounties in the nightcap.
Cailyn Lucas (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills HS) and the Celtics held the Mounties to two hits through the first two innings before Mount Aloysius scored in the third.
The Mounties scored three runs on three hits with two outs in the third and retired Carlow in order in the bottom of the inning.
With runners on the corners and only one out, Trinity Kimble (Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg Area HS) made a diving catch in right field to hold Mount Aloysius to one run in the top of the fourth. Gianna Ferrieri (South Park, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic HS) recorded Carlow's first hit of the night in the bottom of the inning, but the Mounties left two runners stranded heading into the fifth.
Mount Aloysius went ahead 6-0 with a hit batter and back-to-back doubles in the fifth, and Kimble recorded her first collegiate hit in the bottom half of the frame. Although the Celtics saw runners in scoring position, the Mounties once again secured the final out of the inning before Carlow could bring anyone home.
An RBI single scored Mount Aloysius' final run before a line drive into a double play afforded the Celtics one last chance to score. The Mounties retired the side to end the game.
Lucas suffered the loss after allowing six earned runs on nine hits with two walks in four innings of work. Ferrieri pitched the final three innings, allowing just one earned run on two hits with a walk.
Alysha Cutri went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI, and Henninger hit 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI. Ava and Taylor Doyle each went 2 for 4 for the Mounties.
The Celtics host Alfred State College for a 12 p.m. AMCC doubleheader April 25. Carlow will celebrate Senior Day prior to first pitch.
