Softball blanked at PAC-leading Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. --- Carlow University softball traveled to Westminster College for an NCAA Division III doubleheader Monday.
The Presidents' Athletic Conference-leading Titans (24-8) held the Celtics (4-26) scoreless through 10 innings.
Game 1: L, 10-0 (5 inn.)
Pitcher Natalie Davis scattered four hits, and Westminster tallied 11 hits enroute to a run rule win to start the day.
The Titans scored six runs on six hits and an error in the bottom of the first and left five Carlow runners stranded on the base paths through the next four innings to secure the win. Lily Jordan hit 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Titans.
Kamyia Morris (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic HS) went 2 for 3 with two stolen bases, and Tatum Wiggs (Boron, Calif./Boron HS) suffered the loss after allowing 11 hits and eight earned runs with two walks and five strikeouts.
Game 2: L, 16-0 (5 inn.)
Westminster pounded 19 hits and scored 11 runs in the first inning in a 16-0 run rule victory in the nightcap.
The Titans left six runners stranded on the base paths, and pitcher Riley Salazar earned the win after allowing three hits with one walk and five strikeouts in three innings of work. Jenna Boneysteele tossed the final two innings with one hit, two walks and two strikeouts. Teagan Reichel hit 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI to lead Westminster at the plate.
Gianna Ferrieri (South Park, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic HS) went 2 for 2 with a stolen base, and Cailyn Lucas (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills HS) was saddled with the loss after allowing seven earned runs on eight hits with two walks and a strikeout in 0.2 innings of work. Ferrieri threw the remainder of the game, allowing four earned runs on 11 hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Celtics host Mount Aloysius College for a 6 p.m. AMCC doubleheader at West Mifflin Area High School Wednesday.
