Softball outmaneuvered by league-leading Penn State Behrend

The Lions (15-7) remain unbeaten in conference action, while the Celtics fell to 4-20 overall and 1-5 in the AMCC.
Game 1: L, 10-0 (5 inn.)
Abby Tingley and the Lions one-hit the Celtics and held them scoreless in a run-rule game to start the day.
Tatum Wiggs (Boron, Calif./Boron HS) recorded Carlow's lone hit and suffered the loss after allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on 14 hits with two strikeouts in the complete game effort.
Karma Malcolm went 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBI, Julia Jones went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBI and Meghan Swain tallied a solo home run to help lead the Lions at the plate. Tingley ended the game with five strikeouts in the circle.
Game 2: L, 15-9
The Celtics attempted a comeback early in the nightcap, but Behrend amassed 21 hits to secure the victory.
The Lions went ahead early, scoring six runs on eight hits and an error in the first inning. A single, a double and an RBI ground out put Behrend up 7-0 heading into the bottom of the second.
Carlow attempted its comeback in the bottom half of the frame. A throwing error to start the inning set off a chain of five hits that afforded the Celtics six unearned runs to trail, 7-6, heading into the third.
Behrend strung together a big inning in the top of the third to regain some distance, tallying eight runs on nine hits and leading, 15-6.
The Lions left two runners stranded in the bottom of the inning, and both teams retired one another in order in the fourth. The Celtics left a runner stranded and escaped another run rule game with three runs on one hit and two costly errors in the bottom of the fifth, trailing 15-9.
Both teams made quick work of one another through the final two innings, with neither team able to score.
Cailyn Lucas (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills HS) was saddled with the loss after allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits in two innings. Gianna Ferrieri (South Park, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic HS) tossed the final five innings, allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits.
Lexi Berta (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Central Catholic) went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Mackenzie Egley (Shelocta, Pa./Armstrong HS) hit 2 for 2 and Kamyia Morris (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic HS) tallied two RBI.
Claire Bodien picked up the win for the Lions, allowing three unearned runs on two hits with two walks and a strikeout in 2.1 innings. Jones earned the save with six unearned runs on six hits with one walk and one strikeout in 1.2 innings, and Alyssa Tingley pitched the final two innings with two strikeouts and one hit.
Malcolm and Hannah Smith each went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI, Izabel Pozar hit 3 for 4 with an RBI and Alexia Brown went 3 for 5 with three RBI to lead the Lions.
The Celtics host St. Vincent College for a 12 p.m. doubleheader tomorrow.
