Men’s Volleyball falls to No. 19-ranked Buffalo State

The No. 19-ranked Bengals (18-2, 5-0 AMCC) hit .412 with 31 kills and 11 service aces to remain unbeaten in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action.
Luke Campana (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) and Rohan Bhattarai (Baldwin, Pa./Baldwin HS) tallied three kills each. Bhattarai also added three digs, four assists and two aces in the effort.
The Celtics tied the score three times to begin the first set before a 6-1 run put the Bengals ahead, 13-8. Leading 18-12, a 6-0 run put Buffalo State up 24-12. Two errors in a row afforded Carlow two points and a Celtics service error ended the set 25-14 in favor of the Bengals.
Carlow kept it close to start the second set until Buffalo State strung together a 9-2 run to lead, 19-10. The Bengals ended the second set with four unanswered points, 25-12.
Carlow held a marginal lead in the third set before the Bengals took over, but the Celtics chipped away and tied the game at 11-all. An 8-1 run gave Buffalo State a 19-12 advantage enroute to a 25-16 third set victory.
Caleb Smith led the Bengals with a game-high eight kills and six aces. Dom Schiavitti recorded a game-high eight digs, and Jackson Stang contributed 15 assists.
The Celtics enjoy a long midseason break before hosting Houghton University for a noon match March 21.
