Men’s Volleyball swept in AMCC match against Penn State Behrend
PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University men’s volleyball lost a 3-0 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference contest to Penn State Behrend at St. Joseph Athletic & Fitness Center Wednesday.

The Lions (11-5, 5-1 AMCC) recorded 15 blocks in the sweep of the Celtics.
Gavin McLain (Acworth, Ga./North Paulding HS) led Carlow with a game-high six kills. Ryan Callahan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) and Angelo Fernandez (Williamsport, Pa./St. John Neumann Regional Academy) tallied five digs apiece, and Callahan added 10 assists in the effort.
Behrend went ahead 9-3 in the first set and went on a 9-1 run to gain an 18-6 advantage. The Lions held Carlow to six points enroute to a 25-12 win.
The Celtics fared better in the second set, jumping out to an early lead until Behrend tied the game at 11-all.
The Lions tied the game again at 12-12 and gained a marginal lead, but the Celtics battled back to tie the score, 17-all.
Rohan Bhattarai (Baldwin, Pa./Baldwin HS) kept the game close with kills to see Carlow trailing 20-19, 22-21 and 23-22. Back-to-back kills from Behrend ended the set in their favor, 25-22.
The Lions started the third set with a 7-1 lead, and although Carlow continued to battle, another 7-1 run put Behrend ahead, 20-9.
Back-to-back Lions errors added points to the board for Carlow, but Behrend scored five unanswered points to win, 25-11.
Four different Lions recorded four kills each, and Eddie Cebula picked up a game-high seven digs.
Carlow hosts Buffalo State College for a 7 p.m. AMCC match Feb. 27.
