Men’s Volleyball faces Chatham in home opener

The Cougars (3-0) defeated the Celtics 25-14, 25-12 and 25-9. Chatham hit .474 on the night with 11 service aces.
Gavin McLain (Acworth, Ga./North Paulding HS) led Carlow with eight kills, and Angelo Fernandez (Williamsport, Pa./St. John Neumann Regional Academy) picked up four digs. Rohan Bhattarai (Baldwin, Pa./Baldwin HS) added 11 assists, and Luke Campana (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) tallied two service aces.
Carlow led 3-1 to start the first set before Chatham gained the advantage. The Celtics tied the game three times until a Cougars kill set off an 8-0 run that put Chatham ahead, 15-7. Two kills and an ace saw the Celtics trailing by five, but the Cougars stayed ahead and tallied five points in a row to end the first set, 25-14.
Chatham jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the second set enroute to a 25-12 victory and made quick work of the Celtics in the third set. Ahead 11-5, the Cougars went on a 9-2 run to gain a 20-7 advantage and ended the set on a 5-1 run for the win.
Tim McCabe led the Cougars with a game-high 15 kills, and Ben Shelestak added a game-high 10 digs.
The Celtics travel to Grove City College for a 7 p.m. match tomorrow.
