Men’s Volleyball concludes season with 3-0 loss at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio --- Carlow University men's volleyball concluded its season with a 3-0 loss to Wittenberg University on the road Saturday.
The Tigers (18-9) defeated the Celtics (0-18), 25-19, 25-15, 25-18.
Chris Lewis led the Celtics with nine kills on the day. Colin Wiegand added six kills and eight digs in the effort.
Carlow garnered a few leads throughout the first set, but with the Celtics ahead 18-17, Wittenberg went on an 8-1 run to end the game. The Tigers scored half of those points with aces, of which they tallied 14 total on the day.
Wittenberg started off leading the second set and steadily pulled away to defeat the Celtics, 25-15.
Carlow led, 9-3, in the third set before a kill from the Tigers set off a 5-0 run to cut the Celtics' advantage to one point.
Carlow maintained its lead through much of the game, but another 5-0 run gave Wittenberg its first lead of the set, 17-15.
With the Celtics trailing, 19-17, the Tigers went on a 6-1 run to take the third set, 25-18.
Dominic Melchiorre led all players with 14 kills, while teammate Chris Goertz contributed 10.
