WAYNESBURG, Pa. --- Carlow University men's soccer lost an 8-1 nonconference contest to Waynesburg University on the road Tuesday night.
The Celtics (1-3) trailed the Yellow Jackets (4-2) 2-1 at halftime before Waynesburg scored six unanswered goals in the second half.
The Yellow Jackets struck first with two goals early on from Liam Mowbray.
Bobby Bootay (Pleasant Hills, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic HS/Westminster College) scored his first goal as a Celtic on an assist from Andrew Sherstnyov (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks HS South) less than two minutes after the second goal to cut Wayesburg's lead to one.
The Yellow Jackets scored less than three minutes into the second half. A penalty kick and a goal seconds later put them ahead, 5-1. Waynesburg scored its final three goals at 71', 82' and 86'.
Dustin Harrier (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny HS) was saddled with the loss in net after making three saves in 68 minutes of work. John Rummel (Price, Utah/Utah State Univ. Eastern) made one save the remainder of the match.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Celtics 26-6 (12-2 on goal) and held a 7-0 corner kick advantage.
Mowbray scored two goals, and Michael Kanu had two assists for Waynesburg.
Carlow travels to Juniata College tomorrow for a 7 p.m. nonconference match.
