Cross Country competes against 16 teams at Carnegie Mellon Invitational

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University cross country ran the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational at Schenley Park Saturday morning.

The women's team placed 14^th of 16 teams including NCAA Division I, II and III institutions.

Ella Cloak (New Cumberland, Pa./Trinity HS) led the Celtics with a personal best 5k time of 21:56.6 to place 79^th of 125 runners on the day.

Laci Schwirian (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward HS) also ran a personal best time of 22:37.3, and Sydney Taylor (Castle Shannon, Pa./Keystone Oaks HS) improved her 5k time by over two minutes since August, racing to a 23:04.9 finish.

Claire Stevens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) crossed the line at 27:06.6, and Leia Day (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell HS) ran a personal best 28:31.8.

The University of Pittsburgh took home the team title with a score of 64, while Point Park University's Cassondra O'Conner raced to a first place finish in 18:32.0.

Quincy Fana (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area HS) competed for the men's team in the 8k race, crossing the line in 35:34.8.

Sixteen teams brought 132 runners to the course, with host Carnegie Mellon taking home the team trophy with a score of 34. Penn West California's Noah Bernarding placed first with a time of 25:07.2.
