PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women’s tennis opened the spring season with a 5-2 loss to Washington & Jefferson College at Alpha Tennis & Fitness Saturday evening.

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's tennis opened the spring season with a 5-2 loss to Washington & Jefferson College at Alpha Tennis & Fitness Saturday evening.
Peja Cruise (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour HS) and Elle Duda (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park HS) picked up wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 singles spots, respectively. Cruise won her match, 6-4, 6-2, and Duda won hers, 6-4, 6-4.
Every Celtic won at least one game in singles, and Madelyn Straw (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley Senior HS) went three sets in the No. 6 singles spot.
The Presidents swept the doubles point, while Cruise and Julia Piatt (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks HS) won one game at No. 1 doubles.
The Celtics host Grove City College for a 6 p.m. match March 27.
