ALTOONA, Pa. --- Carlow University women's soccer lost a 2-0 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference contest to Penn State Altoona at Spring Run Stadium Wednesday night.
The Celtics (1-11-1, 0-6-1 AMCC) put forth a strong defensive effort, led by goalkeeper Elizabeth Knight (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) who recorded 15 saves.
The Lions (5-5-4, 2-2-2 AMCC) outshot the Celtics 24-4 (17-1 on goal) on the night and managed to score one goal late in both halves.
Emma Spanik landed the Lions' first goal in the 43rd minute and assisted on the second goal by Ivory MoDavis at 72'.
Amara Battista (South Park, Pa./South Park HS) contributed three shots, and Jenna McGuinness (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin HS) recorded Carlow's lone shot on goal.
The Celtics host Penn State Behrend for a 6 p.m. AMCC match tomorrow at Highmark Stadium. Prior to kickoff, Carlow will celebrate Senior Day.
