Nedley, Pollinger earn All-RSC Softball Second Team honors, 11 named Scholar-Athletes
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. --- The 2023 All-River States Conference Softball Teams & Awards were announced Thursday evening following the opening round of the RSC Softball Championship at Little Creek Park.
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. --- The 2023 All-River States Conference Softball Teams & Awards were announced Thursday evening following the opening round of the RSC Softball Championship at Little Creek Park. The all-conference awards were voted on by the RSC softball head coaches.
Senior shortstop Morgan Nedley and sophomore pitcher/outfielder Megan Pollinger were named to the All-RSC Second Team.
The All-RSC Second Team featured three pitchers, two catchers, five infielders, four outfielders, two designated players and two utility selections.
Pollinger and Nedley ranked eighth and 10th in the conference with .395 and .384 batting averages, respectively. They were seventh and eighth in slugging percentage at .620 and .589.
Nedley ended the regular season 11th with 34 RBI. She tallied five home runs, a triple and 13 doubles.
Pollinger hit four home runs, three triples, 11 doubles and brought in 18 runs for the Celtics.
Pollinger also led team in the circle with 4.34 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 61.1 innings.
Catcher McKenna Pierce and outfielder Hannah Gallagher earned All-RSC honorable mention honors.
The Honorable Mention Team is comprised of those players who did not garner enough votes for inclusion on the First or Second Teams, but who were nominated by their respective coaches for consideration.
Gallagher, the Celtics lead-off hitter, was third on the team with a .313 batting average. She tallied one home run, 12 doubles and 16 RBI.
Pierce was a regular behind the plate and had four home runs, a triple and three doubles, and was second on team with 20 RBI.
The RSC Champions of Character team honors one player from each school who best displays the NAIA Champions of Character traits of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
Pollinger also earned this distinction for the Celtics.
The RSC Scholar-Athlete Team honors those with a 3.25 GPA or higher who have been at their school for at least two semesters. Below are the honorees for the Celtics:
