Five top-10 finishes for Men’s Cross Country at La Roche tri-meet

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University men’s cross country placed five runners in the top 10 at the La Roche University and Pitt Greensburg tri-meet Friday afternoon.

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University men's cross country placed five runners in the top 10 at the La Roche University and Pitt Greensburg tri-meet Friday afternoon.

Jimmy Giannetta (Pittsburgh, Pa./Saint Joseph HS) led the Celtics with a second-place finish of 20:31.7 in the 5k race.

Braedon Beard (Myersville, Md./Middletown HS/Notre Dame of Maryland Univ.), Quincy Faña (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area HS) and Sam Byrd (Tybee Island, Ga./Jones College Prep) placed sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively, and Khaden Daley (Swiftwater, Pa./Pocono Mountain East HS) rounded out scored for the Celtics with a 10th place finish.

Tyshawn Brownfield of Pitt Greensburg led the individual field of runners with a first place time of 19:12.2   .

Pitt Greensburg bested Carlow 23-34, and the Celtics defeated host La Roche, 34-70.

Carlow races the Allegheny College Classic Sept. 20.
