The Celtics opened the 2016 season by placing second out of four teams in the St. Vincent College Early Bird Cross Country Invitational. It was the first time a Carlow men's cross country team has placed.

The Celtics' average time in the 8k race was 34:19.

Christopher Woodley (SO/Northern Cambria, PA) led Carlow with a 31:54. Blake Wargo (SO/Milton, PA) ran 32.57, Jeffrey Amorose (FR/Fox Chapel, PA) ran 33:43, Timothy Richardson (FR/Monongahela, PA) ran 35:23, Christopher Taylor (SO/Jersey City, NJ) ran 37:57, Chandler Stockwell (SO/Richland, MI) ran 44:19 and Vincent Bucci (SR/Frazier, PA) ran 50:32.

St. Vincent won the meet by taking the top seven places, with an average time of 28:46. Pitt-Greensburg finished third, with an average time of 34:30. Westmoreland County Community College was fourth, with an average time of 36:45.

The Celtics next run Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational.
