Men’s Track & Field opens indoor season at Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio --- Carlow University men's track & field competed at the Marietta First Glimpse Meet to kick off the indoor season Friday afternoon.

Shajit Pokwal (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) led the Celtics with two second place finishes. He leapt his second best indoor distance of 6.35 meters in long jump for the third best score in Carlow's record books. In triple jump he landed at 12.38 meters.

Newcomer Isaiah West (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township Senior HS) recorded the second best time in school record books with a 6.94 in the 55-meter dash, while Anthony Lewis (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township Senior HS) scored the third best time at 7.01. They placed third and fourth, respectively, in the event. Jeb Jordan (Johnstown, Pa./Richland HS) ran a personal best 7.58 in the 55 preliminaries.

In the 200, Lewis and West placed second and third, respectively.

Caleb Rogers (Clark, Pa./Sharpsville Area HS) threw his fourth best throw in shot put with 10.67 meters that landed him in sixth place.

Host Marietta and the Celtics were the only two teams that competed in the meet at the Marietta-Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

The Celtics return in the new year with a meet at Muskingum University Jan. 24.
