Men’s Soccer downed by Saint Vincent in nonconference home match

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University men's soccer lost a 6-0 contest to Saint Vincent College at Highmark Stadium Wednesday night.
The loss dropped the Celtics to 1-8-1 on the season, while the Bearcats improved to 5-6-1 overall.
Saint Vincent scored its first goal at 12' and almost every 10 minutes the remainder of the first half.
Erwin Suarez poked one in at 21', and the Bearcats added another at 33'.
Saint Vincent tacked on its fourth goal just minutes before the end of the half to take a 4-0 lead into the intermission.
The Bearcats added their final two goals early in the second half.
Less than two minutes into the half, Saint Vincent took advantage of a rebound off goalkeeper Kevin Garcia's gloves that landed at the feet of Cameron Mulvanny to put the Bearcats ahead, 5-0.
Saint Vincent scored its final goal at 51', and although the Celtics held them scoreless the remainder of the game, the damage had already been done.
The Bearcats out-shot the Celtics, 28-4 (14-1 on goal) and held a 7-1 corner kick advantage.
All four of Carlow's shots came in the second half.
Garcia got the start in net, making three saves in 56 minutes of action. Peyton Lancy completed the remaining 34 minutes and stopped all three shots he faced.
The Celtics host Alfred State College for an 8 p.m. match at Highmark Stadium Saturday, Oct. 7. Carlow plans to celebrate Senior Night prior to kickoff.
