BRADFORD, Pa. --- Carlow University men's golf competed in its first tournament of the season Saturday at the Pennhills Club, hosted by Pitt Bradford.
The Celtics finished 13th of 15 teams with a score of 368.
Senior Logan Smith (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley HS) led the team with an 83, and Christian Rotundo (Thorold, Ontario, Canada/Denis Morris Catholic Secondary School) carded an 89. Jack Falkner (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional HS) shot the second best round of his collegiate career with a 97, and Logan Connelly (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin HS/St. Vincent College) rounded out scoring for the Celtics with a 99.
It was a beautiful day for the tournament, albeit with a breeze that flowed down into the valley throughout the round. The recent stretch of dry weather made for fast greens on the 6,553 yard, par 71 course, challenging the Celtics a bit on the back nine.
Hobart College shot 298 to capture the team title, with Pitt Greensburg's Nicholas Thomas earning the individual honor with a 73.
The Celtics return to action Sept. 19 at the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagle Invite.
