Men’s Basketball falls behind early at Pitt Greensburg

The Celtics (3-20, 3-11 AMCC) forced 13 Bobcats (19-4, 11-3 AMCC) turnovers, but it was not enough to defeat Pitt Greensburg, who shot 53.2 percent (33 for 62) from the field.
Jimmy Giannetta (Pittsburgh, Pa./Saint Joseph HS) led the Celtics with 15 points, and Aleel Batts (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area HS) added 13 points, five assists and two steals in the effort. Gavin Moyer (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York HS) added a career-high nine points off the bench.
The Bobcats went ahead early in the first half. Trailing the Celtics 9-7, a three-pointer gave Pitt Greensburg the lead and set off a 27-9 run for the Bobcats that spanned over 11 minutes.
The teams were evenly matched the final five minutes of the half, but the early run afforded the Bobcats an 18 point lead heading into halftime.
Pitt Greensburg hit the first bucket out of halftime to extend its advantage to 20 points, and although the Celtics battled throughout the half, the Bobcats maintained a double figure lead the remainder of the game.
Pitt Greensburg outrebounded the Celtics 51-20 and outscored Carlow 34-18 off the bench and 48-18 in the paint.
Trent Rozich scored a triple-double to lead the Bobcats with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Jackson Byer added 13 points.
The Celtics host Mount Aloysius for a 7 p.m. AMCC game Feb. 18.
