Tavarez earns USCAA Men’s Basketball Division I Player of the Week

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University men's basketball guard Jordyn Tavarez scored USCAA Player of the Week honors, the association announced Tuesday.

Tavarez, a sophomore from New Kensington, Pa., averaged 22.5 points per game in two games last week for the Celtics (2-18). He led the team and tied his season-high with a game-high 28 points in a 103-85 loss to La Roche Jan. 28.

Tavarez shot 57.1 percent from the field on the week and helped Carlow snap a 10-game losing streak by scoring 17 points in a 70-62 win over Alfred State Jan. 31.

The Celtics travel to Penn State Altoona for a 7 p.m. game tonight.
