Rocket League Gold Team sweeps Waynesburg

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University Rocket League Gold swept Waynesburg University, 3-0, in a match Thursday night.
Game 1
Carlow Gold (1-3) ran hot and aggressive from the opening whistle in the first game against the Yellow Jackets (1-2).
Their efforts were rewarded with a Brady Fest unassisted goal at 4:36.
Fest scored again with a powerful shot at 2:01 off an Angelo Fernandez feed to put the Celtics up, 2-0.
Waynesburg answered with 1:50 remaining to make it 2-1 in favor of the Celtics. The late surge wasn't enough as Carlow held on to snatch victory in game one with a final score of 2-1.
Game 2
Carlow again opened with heavy pressure registering a shot on the initial play of the game.
However, it took nearly half of game two before either team registered the first goal. Carlow once again broke through first with a Fest goal at 2:32 assisted by Fernandez.
It took another minute before Fest put the Celtics up 2-0 on an unassisted goal at 1:33.
Fernandez secured the victory in game two by adding an insurance goal with just 16 seconds left as Carlow took game two by a score of 3-0.
Game 3
Carlow opened game three looking for a clean sweep in the best-of-five match. The Celtics registered the first goal at 4:18 as Fernandez struck home a great pass from Fest to go up 1-0.
Zachary Taylor found the back of the net at 3:40 on a feed from Fernandez to take Carlow up 2-0.
Carlow dominated possession the rest of the way and brought home the victory in game three and closed out the match with a clean sweep.
The Celtics return to action tonight at 7:30 p.m. when the Rocket League Purple Team faces Penn West Edinboro.
