Rocket League team swept in best of five match versus Midway

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University's Rocket League team fell in three straight matches against Midway (Ky.) University Friday night.
Rocket League is played in a best of five games format for each match. Each game lasts for five minutes and goes to sudden death overtime, if necessary, at the end of the five-minute regulation games.
Game 1
Midway opened scoring at 3:55. The Eagles put two more in at 3:26 and 3:11 to go up, 3-0. Brady Fest cut Midway's lead to two with a goal at 2:58, and Alena Hemminger came up with a big save at 2:53 to keep the Celtics in the game.
Nearly two minutes passed until Midway put away two quick goals to lead, 5-1. AJ Nguyen scored the final game of the match with 17 seconds remaining, but the final score was 5-2 in favor of the Eagles.
Game 2
Midway broke the ice at 4:04 to go up 1-0. Carlow had a near miss on a shot by Fest at 3:44, but Midway was able to score on the counter to make it 2-0. Midway scored two more at 3:10 and 2:58 to lead, 4-0 and put another one in at 2:26 to get ahead, 5-0.
Fest ruined the clean sheet for Midway with a nice aerial goal at 1:02 to make it 5-1. Midway scored once more at 0:46 and again at 0:15 as Carlow was pressing late to make the final score 7-1 in favor of the Eagles.
Game 3
Midway put two goals in at the end of the first minute to start with a 2-0 advantage. Fest answered with a Carlow goal at 3:27, but the Eagles responded with goals at 1:52 and 1:37 to extend their lead to 4-1. Midway added a final dagger with no time left on the clock to cement the 5-1 win.
The Celtics are back in action with an 8 p.m. match against Robert Morris University Oct. 27.
