Three Celtics named AMCC Spring All-Sportsmanship honorees
LATROBE, Pa. --- Three Carlow University student-athletes earned a spot on the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Donna Ledwin Spring All-Sportsmanship Team, the league announced May 21.
LATROBE, Pa. --- Three Carlow University student-athletes earned a spot on the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Donna Ledwin Spring All-Sportsmanship Team, the league announced May 21.
Donna Ledwin is the former AMCC commissioner who retired after 23 years of service to the conference. Ledwin made sportsmanship, inclusion and acceptance a focal point of what the conference represents. The AMCC All-Sportsmanship Team was named in her honor upon her retirement in 2025.
All institution sport teams which compete for an AMCC championship selected one member from their team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the AMCC All-Sportsmanship Team. These individuals were nominated by their teammates.
The student-athlete selected must consistently demonstrate a high level of ethical conduct, respect and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. Such sportsmanship shall be evident toward teammates, coaches, opponents, officials and fans. He/She must also serve as a positive representative of school spirit when a spectator at other teams' sporting events.
Below are the honorees for the Celtics:
- Men's Volleyball: Junior Angelo Fernandez (Williamsport, Pa./St. John Neumann Regional Academy)
- Softball: First-Year Deborah Garza (San Antonio, Texas/Robert G. Cole HS)
- Men's Tennis: Senior James Stone (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell HS)
