The Outstanding Student-Athlete Award
Morgan Nedley | Softball | Senior | Harrison City, Pa. | Nursing
This award is presented to the student who best exemplifies a "student-athlete." This student achieves in the classroom while achieving in competition. This Celtic represents the balance between academic and athletic achievement, with the emphasis on academic achievement. Grade point averages, academic honors (such as Dean's List and Honor Roll) and contributions to the team are factors for this award.
"Morgan has been an amazing student-athlete over her career at Carlow. She has always remained a top offensive performer on the field. At the same time, she remained at the top of her class academically in the nursing program."
--- Glenn Zinsmeister, Softball Head Coach
The Outstanding Senior Athlete Award
Megan Ost | Women's Basketball | Senior | Apollo, Pa. | Early Childhood Education
This award is presented to the student-athlete who has participated in a sport for four years at Carlow and made significant contributions to that team each year. This student also stood out as a senior in statistical categories and in a leadership role. The student's athletic career at Carlow concluded with a successful, achieving senior season. Career and senior year statistics are factors for this award.
"Megan excelled on the court for the last four years; however, this season she took her game to new heights and left her mark on the University. In addition to scoring over 1,000 career points during the 2022-23 season, Megan averaged 12.5 points per game while shooting over 46.7 percent from the field, which ranked her 10th in the River States Conference in scoring. She ranked second in the RSC in rebounds, grabbing over 13 per game. Finally, Megan finished third in conference in blocks and was named to the All-RSC honorable mention team. Megan's body of work this season has truly been outstanding."
--- David Gordon, Women's Basketball Head Coach
The Spirit Award
Elli Cook | Women's Volleyball | Senior | Connellsville, Pa. | Nursing
This award is presented to the student who makes intangible contributions to the team. The student's actions in and out of competition display commitment, dedication, determination and team spirit. This student represents everything positive about intercollegiate athletics. Overall attitude, leadership, team-building skills and commitment to success are factors.
"Elli is a nursing major and was team captain for the past few years. She finished her final semester with a 3.95 grade point average and a cumulative GPA of 3.692. She started and played opposite for us doing many of the intangibles that don't show up in statistics. Basically, Elli is the glue that keeps the team together. She is respected by her teammates and often provides help and guidance to the other players, especially those in the nursing program. I believe she made every all-academic team for USCAA and River States each and every semester. We will miss her leadership! Elli was also the Champion of Character award winner for River States."
