SOFTBALL Wins Two on First Day of USCAA National Championship to Advance to semi-finals

May 15 Akron, OH. Carlow won the second game of the day with a 9-3 win over #5 seed Briarcliff College to advance to the semi-final game of the USCAA National Championship. The Celtics will face the winner of the Lindenwood - Spalding game at 2pm on Tuesday.
Briarcliff got off to a 3-1 lead until Carlow came alive in the bottom of the 2nd with 3 runs to take a 4-3 lead. After two and a half scoreless innings the Celtics exploded with 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th to extend the lead to 9-3 which was the final.
Melissa Costantini pitched a solid game striking out 6 batters to earn the win. Carlow's Becca Blythe was named the USCAA Player of the Game.

Carlow defeated PSU Mont Alto 7-2 in 1st Round of USCAA National Championship.
Celtics faces Briarcliff at 6 pm.
Carlow got off to slow start in the first round game at the USCAA Nationals and PSU Mont Alto held a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 4th when the Celtics tied the game at 2-2. Carlow had a strong 5th inning scoring 3 runs and then 2 more in the bottom of the 6th. PSU Mont Alto had 2 runners on base in the top of the 7th but were unable to score .Winning pitcher, Emily Pritts had 10 strikeouts for the Celtics and Carlow's Meghan Dulaney was named the USCAA Player of the Game.

Carlow follows up American Mideast Conference Softball Championship with 1-0 and 9-0 wins over Talladega, AL, in NAIA Unaffiliated Qualifier Round. Team chooses United States Collegiate Athletics Association (USCAA) National Championship Bid and will compete in Akron, May 15-17 toward USCAA Softball title!

May 8 - Carlow is #1 seed in the USCAA National Tournament
They will face #8 PSU-Mont Alto in a first-round game on Tuesday, May 15 at 12pm at Firestone Stadium in Akron, OH. The 2012 USCAA Softball National Championship will be in Akron, Ohio at Firestone Stadium May 15-17. Visit the USCAA Softball National Championship page for more information. 2012 Carlow Celtics Softball AMC Champs!

May 7- Carlow will accept USCAA Bid to compete in Softball National Championship Tournament in Akron, OH May 15-17
Despite qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament, Carlow chose to compete in the United States Collegiate Athletics Association on May 15-17 in Akron, OH. "The USCAA is a better option for us at this time and we were excited to receive and accept the bid to the Association's National Tournament late Friday," said George Sliman, Carlow's Director of Athletics. " We thought long and hard about which option was better for our student-athletes and fan base and decided the proximity to Akron, the Tournament site, was preferred over the travel distance to Gulf Shores, AL, the location of the NAIA Nationals."

May 4 - Carlow DEFEATS Talladega. AL by scores of 1-0 and 9-0 in NAIA National Tournament Qualifier but Chooses USCAA Tournament Bid

Apr 29 - After winning the past 5 contests, including a 7-3 first-round playoff win, Point Park was unable to hold off Carlow who won games 2 and 3 of the AMC Tournament by scores of 10-2 (6 innings) and 10-9 (10 innings) on Sunday, April 29. The wins earn the Celtics a trip to Troutville, VA, where they will play Talladega College of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The winner of the best of 3 series being played on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 advances to the NAIA National Tournament being held in Gulf Shores Alabama on May 17-23.

TENNIS

  • Carlow Tennis (1-6-1, 0-1) played their final match Tuesday, Apr 24 at Ursuline in Pepper Pik, OH, losing to the Arrows 7-2.
